Hair Testing

Hair testing is a very effective method of drug testing.  It is capable of detecting drug use on a larger scale of time.  Typical tests can go back 30 days for each 1/2″ of hair on the head.  A standard test (90 days) will test the first 1 1/2″ of hair.  Longer time frames are possible, but will require longer lengths of head hair.

A small sample of hair is cut at the scalp (hair is not plucked) and then sent to the lab for testing.

If no head hair is available, body hair can be used.  Soap, bleach, smoke and other external contaminants are not known to affect these test results.

A standard 5-panel hair test checks for cocaine, marijuana, opiates, amphetamines and PCP.
